Founded in 1972 by Ted Kibble and Arnie Prentice, Kibble & Prentice began as a small firm offering life insurance and estate and business succession planning, as well as private client services. Since then, we’ve grown into one of the leading full-service brokerage firms in the Pacific Northwest. We are ranked as the second largest in the Puget Sound in terms of premium volume, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal in May 2016, and our downtown Seattle headquarters is home to nearly 300 industry specialists and professionals. In addition, we have another 200+ associates distributed across 7 regional offices in: Anchorage, Alaska; Boise, Idaho; Eugene and Portland, Oregon; and Concord, Woodland Hills and Irvine, California.
Over the past 42 years, we have fulfilled our mission to create value, manage risk and build net worth for companies and individuals alike by providing world-class knowledge and service in:
In 2006, Kibble & Prentice became a wholly-owned subsidiary of USI Holdings (“USI”). Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Valhalla, New York, USI is the 3rd largest privately-held independent insurance broker—and the 10th largest broker overall—in the United States, and the 14th largest insurance broker in the world. USI employs more than 4,000 associates in nearly 140 offices across 40 states. USI's private equity partner, Onex, is one of the oldest and most successful private equity firms in the world.
Our relationship with USI affords us access to a full range of national products and services, while our local office and long-standing ties to the Pacific Northwest community allow us to offer a level of client focus and knowledge that’s frequently more closely associated with regional boutique firms.
Members of our Executive Management team include: Arnie Prentice, chair, Chris Prentice, regional CEO, Dave Ross, president and chief operating officer, Todd McMahon, chief compliance officer, Scott Ofstead, regional chief human resources officer, and Steve McLenton, regional financial officer.
In support of our commitment to the communities in which we live, work and do business, we have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to numerous organizations and business partners with a focus on helping families in need, healthcare, disease research and the arts. In 2015 alone, we contributed more than $600,000 to over 120 organizations across our region, and were honored to be included on the Puget Sound Business Journal’s list of the Top 75 Corporate Philanthropists.
At least 50% of our associates regularly volunteer their time to the organizations of their choice, and nearly 15% of our associates hold leadership, board or committee positions with regional non-profit organizations. The amount of in-kind contributions derived from participating employees is significant. Given the amount money our associates and executives also give individually, when taken in the aggregate, corporate and individual giving exceeds $1,000,000 per year. To further facilitate our associates’ involvement in the community, we allow them to use up to five paid hours each month for hands-on volunteer service, and our volunteer committee provides information about volunteer opportunities and sponsors quarterly firm-wide volunteer or fundraising events. We have a charitable contribution matching program for all associates, and each year we identify and recognize an associate as Volunteer of the Year, who is nominated by his or her peers.
